This next page is for the
writers, readers, models, and actors...............
Read everything you can, and make it a daily routine to read something,
especially information and news you might not ( NOT ) even like. Do you really
think some of your favorite well known newscasters really LOVE everything they
report ??? Do you think Brad Pitt loves every line in every script he is
directed to read and act out ? NOT ! They sound like it, right ? That is called
FLAWLESS EXECUTION, and you have to master this in Entertainment if you want to
be successful. Yes, even you picky models, you might get a job where you are
asked to speak at a gala or huge company event, so be prepared.
A. Writers !
People seem to write the way
they perceive as a conversation, verses writing the way people would talk.
Readers do the same as they interpret what they are reading. When
I first started writing, I would write based on perception, and then I realized
if I just wrote how I myself would have talked in any situation, at least it
would give more of a realistic view as to what the actors were saying verses
perception of dialogue. This is why
B. Reading! Reading other scripts really helps you
get an idea as to the diversity of how writers use dialogue to tell the story.
Example:
If you watch a movie
you get to see why a movie does well based on a directors point of view, actors,
and action, so you see the movie is (good), and say wow the movie was good. If
you read it, you see the process that a person went through to put it together.
Reading the movie lets you see the entire process. So, my next piece of advice
is an extension to reading scripts, and that is to read everything you can,
including reading stories you never would have found interesting until you
forced yourself to read them. This creates diversity as you are taking in
information. Another way to look at this whole scenario, when you watch a movie,
it’s been changed by actors, producers, a director, etc…. but if you read
it, you get the truth, how it was put together, and how the process carried out
the story ……….
C. Learn to network with everyone
in the business. You need to hone your skills to promote your
ability, but more importantly, you need to network to have people around you
that see the ability you have. Later in this book there is a whole chapter on
Networking and Promoting... I am using these words early, but they will all come
together.... Read it and enjoy ... you will need to master these arts, but you
will ! On the next page I take a step back........
