 Word of Mouth
_____________

Have you ever been in a grocery store listening to three people talk about an artist, and by the end of the conversation  you could have sworn they were professional critics. This brings me to the reason I tell you this also, choose the people you hang out with wisely. These people represent you and the person you are to the public. If you want to be in the Entertainment Business on any front, get used to the fact that you are judged on the perception you give off. If you are frequenting spots with someone that is known for causing problems, then the perception will put you right in the mix of negativity.

When I lived in Phoenix, Arizona, I used to live at the Met, across from the Arizona Center. My neighbors were some of the ball players from the Phoenix Suns. Cimeon Rice of the Cardinals would come by to hang out with a few neighbors and record demo tracks at there apartment studio. I noticed that Cimeon and a few other un named players he associated with were really cool friends that were always looking out for him. If there was ever a problem with something, his friends handled it, and Cimeon could just stay out of the problem, and this kept him out of trouble.

This is why I say to you, choose the people you associate with if you want to build up a name for yourself, because the people around you help you define who you are. This causes word of mouth perception......

for example....................................................................................................

I used to find it so funny that I would walk into a club on South Beach, Club Level, a really cool spot where we would bring celebrities and hang out. I would come in the club and our station star DJ, DJ Def would be tearing up this club, and someone would come up to me out of nowhere and say, hey, I heard you on the air tonight, you guys are wild. Then we would bump through the crowd and  maybe meet like 10-15 people like that, just passing through and people say hello to you. Then of course I would bump into someone that knew me as a friend, and I would give her a hug, say hi, etc,,,,,,, This girl would introduce me to one of her friends, and then she was also one of my own ( entertainment business rule )

I would be in a club, maybe a week or two later, and all of the sudden I would be approached by a completely strange person who would say, hey, your friends with my girl Tiffany. Yeah, she said you two were really good friends and that you met up with them last week at Club Deep.........

( here is the scenario of ent business marketing, and the word of mouth )

Each one of the women I met at Club Deep will leave the club thinking, he was a pretty cool person, I liked his attitude, etc....... Then, the next night when I am on the air, she might be driving with her three friends saying, "OH, I met him, were really cool friends now, he is pretty cool, and DJ Def is Bad Ass, we met him too!" This is how human beings react to meeting someone in the Entertainment Business that carry some type of name. Therefore, if you want to build up a good name for yourself remember this !

Everyone wants something to say, whether bad nor good, people like to talk, and when they think they have something to talk about, and if they think people will listen, they talk. So, my philosophy is, always give everyone around you something good to talk about.
