Word of Mouth
_____________
During the Fall of 2001 Jay Z came to visit Power 96 Radio for one of the
hottest concerts of the year, Power House. While interviewing Jay Z was
able to ask him some questions that are sure to shed some light on how the word
of mouth can effect you ?
1. How do you find talent while you are busy with your performing, video,
publicity, and business affairs ?
I have people all over the country that are always out there on the streets, if
something is happening, I usually get a call or it will come up when I talk to
friends. If someone has skills that are outstanding, I will hear about it.
2. Can you give some advice to young up and coming artists as to how to get
someone's attention like yourself ?How does word of mouth effect the chances ?
You got to be out there all the time. If you are only doing your thing once in a
while, very few people get to see what you got, but if you are out 6-7 days a
week in people's face, out on the streets, promoting yourself everywhere, then
you will be seen and heard. If I hear about an artist coming up once or twice,
it's all in passing, but If I hear about someone every day all day, I am going
to want to know what this person is all about. Word of mouth will grow for you
if you are always doing your thing, and word of mouth on the streets gets around
fast if you got skills.
3. How many days of the week are you out there promoting yourself.
Every day all day
Word of mouth promotions and marketing work for you, and it starts now as you read through this book. Do what you do on the daily !
