Wisdom For The Gifted and Talented

Advice FROM THE TOP :

Advice to Actors
______________

99% of your talent comes from within yourself, your thought process, your ability to become the character you are about to present, and your ability to adapt to any situation. My advice to you as an actor is to study every form of acting possible. Take community courses when you have the chance, study as much as possible about the actors that made history. Study where they studied, what they studied, and why. This will help you make better choices for your self in the future. I also encourage you to study the dynamics of AFTRA / SAG ( the screen actors guild ) and learn the in's and out's of management. It might not be that bad to take a class on business management skills, so you can learn to manage yourself in the future. This is of course a business and you have to follow suit to win in it. I encourage you to look in the daily news paper for auditions that you can try out for. I also encourage you to try out for everything you possibly can, don't limit yourself to one form of acting. As you will also read, I encourage you to intern for TV / Radio to learn editing, production, and get a common grasp on how these skills can be utilized while you are fighting to get ahead. I am adding a link on the link page to All Access. This is the best service to get information about different broadcast companies, where they are located, and who runs them. If you want to start learning good ways to learn lines, scripts, and scores, study with a theatre group. Community Theatre is available in every major city across the US and around the world. There are also books on the internet on Script learning. writing, and manipulating your delivery. Take your time and learn as much as you possibly can while you are building your skills. If you can, develop your own practice group with other actors and write your own parts and scripts, this way you can practice writing, directing, and performing with built in critique. Tape your practice and have others watch your roles and critique them as well !

1. Click Here for a list of agencies throughout the US you can use to contact, send information to, or get information from.

2. Make sure you put together a small web site with your head shot and your personal bio information. If you can add video clips and information leading yo who you are, by al means, put it on your site !

3. I also suggest that you search for bios and information on your favorite actors. Read and learn from the things they have done in the past, study where they suggest to study. The easiest way to find a specific actor or actress to learn from is to search google.com

search: Julia Roberts message board and bio information

then you can read information directly from her bio.
