#1 Promote yourself, your band, your group in as many places as possible.
Even if you are a solo artist, promote yourself to everyone all the time. There
are on line message boards, band forums, in store pin up boards, and concert
events that can all be utilized as places to make your presence known. Make sure
you are already working on your web site so people have a place to come see and
hear you.
Here is a list of 50 places I have found to be the most productive places for
listing your band, music, and information ! Each of these sites has message
feedback boards where you can ask questions, get responses, and learn from some
of the many of thousands of musicians in the world today.

I also suggest you search on the internet for local message boards and music
services on line in your city. Nothing beats the pride local fans will have
supporting you as an artist. All you have to do is search google.com and in the
registry search, type in your city and local band message boards, for instance:

#2 Come up with creative ways to promote shows, events, concerts, presentations.
If it means burning 200 CD's ( $40.00 for the blank CD's ) and then hand
labeling them with a concert date and time........ be creative in the things
that you do to try and build a following.
#3 Call studios all over the US and offer yourself as a studio musician for hire
in case of an emergency no - show. This can be quite a tool for you to use to
gain a following in the industry.
#4 Offer your music to independent film students, directors, college study
groups in film, etc.... This gets your music out in the public.
#5 Perform as much as possible in as many different areas of
the country as possible !
#6 Stay positive and focused into what it is you want to do. Don't let anyone
tell you that you can't achieve success in the music entertainment business,
because you can with a lot of hard work !
#7 Network with other artists and help support one another in times of need,
they will in turn do the same for you. This business is actually small, and word
gets around when you are talented, and able to provide a good attitude about
building a strong presence in the music world.
