I started doing work for MTV Staff Casting in Miami, Florida as a
promotional event that was being cross promoted on my show at Power 96. Kid
Curry and the promotions team decided to hook up with MTV for the MTV in the
Keys celebration with Sisqo, DJ Skribble, The Back Street Boys, Jennifer
Lopez, and a host of there artists. Carson Daily wanted a local Miami host to
promote the events and I was chosen along with a new assistant on our team.
Basically I slipped into this on accident, but it turned into a series of work
for Mike Petalino from the MTV Staff Crew, as well as networking with Tammy at
Seat Filler and other music events. After meeting with the MTV Casting Crews, I
had been asked to help out in the casting end to, promoting events for clubs,
taking pictures at the events for future promotion, and helping find talent from
local clubs. Just this small networking that was taking place opened up major
doors for what was yet to come. Trick Daddy of Slip -n- Slide Records and Trina
had both just come out with new material that was being promoted, and they
agreed to help me at an event at a local club to provide a crowd for casting.
MTV was thrilled to be a part of the whole promotions event, so I became a part
of the Casting Team as well promoting 12 events that led to the filming of MTV's
Spring Break in the Keys. We actually bussed people back and forth from Miami to
Key West for two weeks of filming and shows. This was the best example of being
in the right place at the right time, networking with the right people, asking
plenty of questions, and having a program director that was willing to allow
Power 96 to be a part of a crazy event. I will let you hear the excitement here:
All of the above events came together from networking while I was in Miami.

MTV Casting ),
Mike Petalino ( MTV Staff ), and Tammy ( Seat Filler ) Not only did networking
maintain the strength of the events building up in Miami, but it also paved the
