My Space has revolutionized the way the world perceives and reacts to Direct Networking. Direct Networking because, unlike any of the other forms of networking that have been established as modern ( AOL and AIM ) e-mail, etc.... My Space allows you to have your own personal web page, a spot for an air check, and a blog presence that can be accessed 1000 times easier than a web site you might have to manage. Furthermore, with My Space, you don't have to host the bandwidth and pay for the service! It is free!!! Just by clicking onto http://www.myspace.com/onairtalent  you are in my radio world of friends and company. There has never been a time greater than our time to network with each other and grow even closer as a broadcasting community. By the end of the year 2006 1 out of every 2 people in our business will be on My Space! Amazing..... By the way, I suggest you create a music account for your My Space account if you are an air talent, this enables you to put up an MP3 of your breaks, a promo, or a simple message to your people that come to your BLOG each day. I created a music account for My Space and I use the four music slots for promos and station information that every day listeners come to hear. After being asked by a 17 yr old radio minded potential what he thought he should do to get the attention of a PD in his town, I told him to MP3 his voice doing talk breaks and create a My Space Music account, and put the MP3 in his music spot, list his information and what he wants to do, and go make friends. When he gets radio people to check out his My Space, the hear his air check he put together, and that is just as good of a start as any to network with potential PD's ! It's a new age of radio.....

On line profiles are still important as well. You can use your on line profile to try and get one's attention, thus,  if someone hears about you from networking, they will peek at your site and maybe listen to something, but they are definitely going to want you to send them a package. As you read the first few pages of this chapter, do not think for a second that you will not need a ( real package ) to get the big jobs, because the big jobs are for those who understand what being thorough truly means.... Here is one example of a site where you can begin utilizing networking tools to reach out to others in the industry....
