As you have read, the Programming World is the guts of radio. From the Program
Director down to the Programming Assistants and every one in between, this team
has got to be on fire to win. This chapter explores the world of the person you call the Program Director,
Music Director, and their assistants. You
will hear from some of the best, some new up and coming Program Directors, and
some old Program Directors that have maintained winning in some really struggling times. I
have only really worked with 7 Program Directors. These 7 people were some of
the most intriguing people I have ever met. What makes a Program Director in
this business so complex is all of the elements they are working with ( as you
just read in the philosophy ) to be productive. Their day starts before the morning show and ends
after the night show. In most cases, they lightly sleep through the over
night elements just in case you are one of the knuckle heads like me that thinks
your really getting away with something stupid by acting up when you think they are
sleeping. In any case, here is a look into the Programming World..... There is
no special order that I have chosen to feature these Program Directors in,
however I decided to feature the first 5 Program Directors that have made an
impact on myself, just by reading their information and understanding what they
are really trying to say to young up and coming talent.
