Another day has crossed parallels un-matched
another cold murder changing lives
and
while I am resting on this cold bitter asphalt
chaos is winning again.....

I watch closely as feet pass over my body
laying silent
I am awake yet dreaming
still the witness
to violence
that continues to plague
my surroundings
of self reliance...

I am watching
as your
thoughtless steps move around me
and your time still passes
as if I am not there,
your caring
has grown weak
as your consideration for life
lay selfish
and
the victims of your purpose
have lost their space
on this shelf.

If you could just
stop
for a minute
and put this dream into perspective,
you would see hope and a future verses
the man who lost his gift.

You would picture yourself in his
time and place
and realize
you still have time.

Chaos is winning in a city so vulnerable
to the thieves at
your back
stealing time
over these cracks,
not looking,

no patience,
no strength
for the weakness
that plagues the true meaning

of life as we should live it.

Should you see me as I lie
on this asphalt staring silently,
can you stop and shake me
and wake me from this
day time caustic reality
of immorality that
has taken over the city
I once called home,
the same place that takes no time
to help the one
who may feel
alone...
